What it does
A little friction, a lot of fire. Enough to snap you out of the scroll without blocking the sites you use.
A thermometer that fills up
A glowing thermometer rides the side of the page. It warms from ice blue to white-hot, steams, shakes and cracks as you keep scrolling.
Scrolling gets heavier
The hotter it gets, the more the page drags: wheel, keyboard, scrollbar and touch. Up to 97% slower on Brutal.
The page starts to burn
Embers, flames and heat haze rise from the bottom and the feed begins to evaporate. Prefer it quieter? Calm mode keeps just the glow.
Meltdown
At 451°F the thermometer explodes, the screen shakes and scrolling down locks until it cools. Reloading won't save you.
Chill off at the top
Scrolling up cools almost twice as fast, the top of the page is a fridge, and stepping away cools it on its own.

Runs on the doom-scroll sites by default, never on your docs or email. Add any site with one click, or turn it on everywhere.

Fall From Grace
The top of the page is heaven: golden light, clouds and angels. Scroll down and the angels fly away, storm clouds roll in over purgatory, and then you're in the fire, counting down Dante's nine circles while devils and winged demons with glowing eyes rise around you. Hit the bottom and you've fallen: locked in until you climb back up to heaven.

Questions
Is it free?
Yes. Doom Scroller shows one small card labeled "Sponsored" in the corner of pages. You can close any ad, hide ads for an hour, or go ad-free with a monthly or one-time purchase from your account.
What do you collect?
Nothing about your browsing. The extension works inside your browser. An account is optional and only keeps your name, email and the settings you sync. See the privacy policy.
What are the themes?
Scroll Scorch is heat and fire with a thermometer that explodes. Fall From Grace starts you in heaven with the angels at the top of the page and drags you down into hell with the demons as you keep scrolling. Both use the same heat, drag and meltdown rules; pick one in the toolbar popup or in Settings.
Which sites does it run on?
X, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Threads, Bluesky, Tumblr, Pinterest and a few more. Edit the list in Settings, click Watch this site in the toolbar popup, or switch it to every site.
How do I cool off?
Scroll back up (it cools almost twice as fast as scrolling down heats), go back to the top of the page, or just step away for a few minutes.
I really need to keep scrolling. Now what?
In a meltdown, hold Push through for 3 seconds to get 90 seconds without drag. You can also pause a tab or leave a site alone from the toolbar icon.
Can I turn it off for a site?
Yes. Click the toolbar icon and choose Leave this site alone, or pause it on one tab.
How do I advertise?
Sign in, open your account and choose Advertise. Ads are reviewed before they run.
